Social Media - What's That?

Free “Social Media Marketing” Seminar for Businesses Coming to Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills, MI

Rochester, MI – June 12, 2009 – Social Media Marketing is a hot topic. With websites like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook growing incredibly fast many large companies, like Comcast, Ford and Amazon, are pouring money into Social Media Marketing (SMM). But it’s not just for big businesses. Small and medium size companies are learning the value of SMM and are leveraging it to gain new customers. To help educate local businesses the Rochester Regional Chamber and Oakland Community College - Economic & Workforce Development have teamed up to bring a free Social Media Marketing seminar to area chamber members on July 1st from 8am to 10am. The seminar will take place at Oakland Community College’s Auburn Hills Campus and chamber members can register for free online at www.tinyurl.com/July1st.
At the seminar businesses will learn what Social Media Marketing is all about and how to use it to grow their business, broaden their customer reach and increase their reputation. “Our businesses have been asking for this kind of a seminar”, said Sheri Heiney, Executive Director of the Rochester Regional Chamber, “It’s sure to be a full house”.
Kevin Outland, President & Creative Director at Pure Energy Advertising, will be leading the seminar. Pure Energy Advertising started using Social Media Marketing early on with great results. “We wanted someone to lead this seminar that had real world experience with Social Media. Fortunately we have Pure Energy Advertising in our own back yard”, said Sharon Miller, Dean of Economic and Workforce Development, Oakland Community College. Kevin Outland said, “You’ll be sure to learn some great new ways to marketing your business using Social Media Marketing. And if you don’t laugh at least once during the seminar I’ll give you your money back…oh, that’s right…the seminar is free.”

The Mission of the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce is to provide leadership and resources in order to advance business development in partnership with civic, cultural, and educational interests for the benefit of its members and the community.
